This is a trial log using eotrackme on the ipad for the first time. This trip was very basic from Warragul along the Western Hwy to Dimboola, then headed to Lake Albucutcya on the western side for an overnight stop. The flush dunnys were ok as long as you took a bucket of water with you as the area has been in drought and no water available. We also took my daughter and son in law for the trip to try out his new 200 series and camper trailer. We did try to take a track around the nth/west part of the lake but came unstuck about 200mts into the sand. I was ok, but the 200 series got bogged in deep sand and took 2hrs to turn it around and winch his back to a reasonably hard surface. This was good experience for the both of us as we used all the recovery equipment including 4maxtraxxs.- 3meters each pull and dig out the wheels again. He realises how important to have recovery gear and to know your limitations. We then headed to the Pink Lakes (Lake Crosbie?) in the Sunset Desert to look at campsites that Judy and I stayed last year, the onto Big Billy Bore in the Big Desert for another o/night stop which we stopped at last year. From here we travelled to Nhill, Horsham and through to Halls Gap to view another campsite prior to stopping at Judy's brothers farm for lunch just out of Moyston. From here it was just a cruise home to Mary Knoll and Warragul. Judy loves using digital mapping for the first time - both Hema mapping and Mudmaps together and checking eotrackme whilst travelling. We are preparing for a trip in July/August to Maralinga and transversing the Caravan Track. We are still using paper maps and compass (my forte), but are also learning the modern technology prior to more remote regions. I realise this will be boring to most, but by logging this trip it will also teach us the pit falls that we came across and hopefully will get feed back on how to improve. I just have to learn how to import photos into the log as I'm a computer dummy and trying.
