The Granites Campground - SA

The Granites has an excellent sheltered beach camp site with sweeping views to High Cliff and The Dreadnoughts. Below the camp site is a secluded granite rock pool with breaking seas in the background. This is a good sized nature based camping area located within a larger farm property. Toilet and shelter with cooking area provided. Good quality. Unpowered sites. Location of the "loo with a view".

Point Westall is a 30m high, 1km long finger-like point, on the eastern side of which is a protected 160 m long north facing pocket of sand backed by 50m high bluffs, and fronted by shallow reefs. Between the point and the northern Granite Rock headland is a second 1.4 km long west facing more exposed beach, consisting of a disjointed high tide sand beach, fronted by beachrock. Strong permanent rips flow out of gaps in the beachrock.

This spot is a very scenic and accessible section of clifftop, with some of the beaches difficult to access down the steep bluffs and cliffs. Rock fishing in deep gutters. Best surf break at Indicators in front of the car park at High Cliff. Beware where you swim, with many exposed areas of reef and rock.
