A location where the 1860 Burke & Wills expedition camped. This was the last location that Burke sent to the Exploration Committee his update on his progress to Coopers Creek and his intentions. At this point he notified the Committee that he had split the Expedition up and left a group back in
Menindee. This is also the location where Wright had left Burke & Wills to navigate to Coopers Creek. Robert Burke had promoted Wright to 3rd in command of the expedition subject to the approval of the Expedition Committee and requested Wright in the mean time to “send up” stores from
Menindee to Coopers Creek at the first convience. Wright then waited in
Menindee for for the committee to approve his promotion.
