Burke and Wills camped her on 24/12/1860. Having just come over Koonchera dune late in the evening and stopped late at night on the flat plane, at 1st light they saw in the distance a lot of trees. Gray was sent out to investigate and found this
waterhole where the expedition rested on Christmas Eve. They had intended on staying here for Christmas day, however many aboriginals started to gather around and they became concerned as the aboriginals seemed to be annoyed they were on their land.
