This is the first sign you will come to when travelling south after crossing over the railway line. Whilst the sign says "Eagle
Rock Falls", this destination is 50km along this track, known as
Three Pools Road.
Three Pools Road is strictly 4WD only - a high clearance 4WD with low range gears is required and you can expect to take at least 2 hours to drive to
Eagle Rock Falls (one way) without stopping, however, there are many excellent other
places to visit along the way, such as
Three Pools,
Thunder Gorge, and
Eagle Rock Pool. It is not a straight forward drive but if you use
EOTopo maps you will find your way.
The ideal itinerary after visiting
Eagle Rock Falls is to pick up the track to Kalgan Pool which heads south off the
Three Pools Road and then follow the Kalgan Pool Road back to the BHP Railway Line making a whole loop out of the journey.
If you want to do this, please be prepared for this route by reading the supplied documentation on ExplorOz and allow a couple of days (or allow a full day's drive 7am - 5pm) to do the full loop. Driving through deep water is required along the Kalgan Pool Road due to deliberate outpouring of water from mining operations that fills the Kalgan Creek.
