I have this vague recollection of an
old mine site off to the East of the Stuart Highway somewhere south of
Coober Pedy and North of Glendambo.. A few old 1970s style buildings still up and a bit of
infrastructure.. Does anyone know the name/location of this
mine?

The highway used to go though
Kingoonya from Glendambo.
Then it went to Bon Bon, Mt Eba then
The Twins and Ingomar then
Coober Pedy, you could be thinking of those. Or it could even be
Tarcoola to the west of
Kingoonya, off the old highway.

Yes a lot of old mines
infrastructure out WEST of the highway, maybe the OP just got that direction mixed up.

Did Glendambo exist when the road went through
Kingoonya? I don't recall ever seeing it there.

Hello Duncan. You may be thinking of mirakata which is located east of the
old Stuart highway about 130 km south of
Coober pedy.
It was a commonwealth gov site for PMG and tracking station for
Woomera in the sixties. Consisted of workshops , offices and accommodation for a lot of workers. Even had a bar !
