Vrilya Point

This area has been closed and gated to tourists for a couple of years. Confirmed still closed as of 2021 but there is hope of this not being permanent.

Do anyone have information whether there is a chance of VP opening for 2019 dry season?

Not sure, it was still closed last year.

If you want the most reliable information, get in contact with the Croc Tent.

They are locals with the best and reliable information.

Vrilya Point will not be open in the near future, or possibly at all, 3 reasons being, the area around Vrilya Point is part of EPM 19001(Exploration Permit for Minerals). The integrity of the Crystal Creek log bridge, and the amount of garbage left by visitors, the garbage was the initial catalyst in the closure of the area.

The most garbage I saw was from Trawlers, fishing nets mainly, all washed up on the beach, floats etc. it was a mess.

Sadly we saw heaps of rubbish at the southern end of the beach, which certainly looked like it was left by campers rather than coming from fishing trawlers. Much better at the northern end if you drove 10km or so along to the shaded grove of casuarinas.
Such a pity that Vrilya has been closed off to visitors, because it was a great quiet detour from the busy main routes to the tip.

Our experience with Vrilya beach was that the high tide lines and beach front dunes were littered with seaborne plastic and detritus. The area was filthy but the only area where camping rubbish was left was at the fishing camps of the T/O's.

The log bridge over Crystal Creek is hazardous.
