Hi All

Time for new tyres on the Troopy. Yeah, I know. "What, you still run skinnies"

Yep!

The problem I've got is they no longer come with the rust bands........................ go figure.

Tried the local dealers. By own admission they only have the Chinese ones which apparently aren't that flash.

Anyone one have any info re this?

Can’t help with the rust bands Lyndon. Do you have 5 or 6 stud rims?

If 5 stud I would ask around tyre shops if they had anyone trade in a set of the new model tubeless Dunlops. I’ve bought 3 sets of the tubeless Dunlops and new rims for $230 each in the last 12 months.

5 Stud. I have asked a few dealers here. Not sure where you are located but in the Top End there are a lot of Landcruiser's still running standard gear, hence supply and demand is probably a lot tighter up here.

The young fellas around here ( near Roma qld ) wouldn’t be seen dead with skinny tyres Lyndon. That’s why they are plentiful here.

Sounds like they have been reading too many 4x4 magazines. One day a tyre company might get Roothy to promote their 7.50 range and every young bloke and his dog will be using them.

The bushies around Alice Springs would remove the wide tyres and replace with the original skinnies .,a lot more reliable in the bush they would say .

Try the 4x4 or normal or commercial wreckers I used skinnies also for a long time but no longer have any rust bands sorry.

Have you tried ringing the tyre manufacturers? They usually have customer information contact details on their web sites. If the major ones don't make them any more then there would be a good chance that MRF do even if you have to get them from India.
Another option would be to give Mick Hutton a ring and see where he gets his from.MICK I have called him a couple of times on the phone and he is very helpful.
