Jervois Station

Anybody know if fuel (diesel) is still available at Jervois Station?

It was in June last year (2017) but there are rumours that Jervois has stopped selling fuel.

That number just rings out. No answer.

That's why I put up the post.

Thanks anyway.

I would have thought you would have checked on their website. http://www.macdonnellranges.com/Jervois-visitors-information-guide.htm

That isn't actually their website. It does suggest ringing them to find out what is available. I would have thought you would have noticed that.

We stayed there in mid 2017. I did notice a diesel pump but you do need to call them to check on availability. Camping facilities are very basic with a male toilet and shower and a female toilet and shower. You do need to be quick in the morning if there are many campers staying as the facilities are very limited. If travelling from Boulia it is a more convenient stop rather than Tobermory Station as it takes you closer to Alice Springs. Tobermory does, however have better facilities.
The main road from Boulia is fine in Queensland but in the NT it was less than ideal. I felt that it had not been graded since we last travelled the road in 2016. Nevertheless a considerable amount of roadwork is occurring east of Gemtree. Gemtree is highly recommended as they do a brilliant camp dinner for about $20 per head. Very good facilities as well.

Yes, I camped at both Jervois Station and Gemtree in June last year and I agree with what you said about both places.

In the meantime, I have managed to establish that Jervois Station will be selling fuel in May when I go down the Hay River Track. It's most likely that the station owners aren't there in the summer months. This would explain why no one is answering their phone.

G'day Robert,
I notice you have a Tvan Murranji.
We are very close to buying a Tvan but the new "Scout" version which is one down from the Murranji.
If it's OK, would you mind telling us what your experience has been with the Tvan.
Also, what:-
(a) "optional" features on your Tvan that you really like and wouldn't do without,
(b) "optional" features you now feel you should have put in at the time of purchase,
(c) "optional" features you now feel weren't worth putting into the Tvan.
Many thanks.
Doug

Doug,
I too filled up there for the Hay.
Fuel filter light came on shortly after. Replaced my filter and all was good, so it may just have been the filter's last straw.
But it may pay to just check it out in a jerry or use a filter, as it is the last fuel you will have and you don't want to get stuck halfway between Poeppel corner and Battlecamp
Enjoy that special part of our red country; The dunes were more red on the Hay than in the Simpson.
