Currently in Alice after Binns track and have decided to head for Birdsville across the Simpson to the eastern states, I see its open for business, is there any exploreroz members out this way to say hi to?

Bob Y is heading down to BV now, coming across the Simpson (think French Line) to meet us at Mt Dare . . . he might see this and say hello, you could cross paths, maybe west side or nearer Mt Dare (we'll be there Tues arvo / evening ourselves).

Then we're (4 vehicles) off via Mac Clarke to duck across to Beachcomber via the Geos :D

Moi is at this moment Les, showered and about to retire at Birdsville 'van park! Going to be a chilly 8° in the morning. Might have to see if there's a spare dog or two about? All good for departure after pies 'n coffee at the Bakery, and a vehicle check.

Dozer,

Leaving here in the morning, heading over QAA & French Line, to Dalhousie then Mt Dare. Driving white 79 series, with alloy checker plate canopy. You in the 80 series, or gone to a 200 series? Want to be at Mt Dare by Tues.

Bob Young.

Just checked your profile pic, Dozer. Should be able to pick you out from the crowd?

There you go Dozer, hope we might see you depending on when you are heading down from Alice.
(Edit, nah we'll be Coober Pedy Monday night, have fun.)
You have your Desert Parks Pass already ?
If not they can be bought at Mt Dare.
Bob, see you Tuesday, most likely mid arvo to maybe 1600, as I confirmed with the others tonight we will go via Breakaways and Painted Desert detours, Ood burger lunch, Eringa and Bloods, so a bit over 500km to travel from Coober Pedy.

Thanks Dozer, but you take it in with you, we aren't camping there, and no doubt have enough load on being early in our trip.
We will have some bagged kindling and hardwood for Mt Dare and Old Andado, after that there will be plenty around.

Have a good crossing, if you camp Eringa Sun night, you will likely see Bob on the tracks east of Purnie I imagine, hard to say as he hasn't said exactly where he roughly planned to camp, just ~ 4 days to Mt Dare for Tues.

We just got back to Alice today. Did a double crossing. Took 10 days taking in Chambers Pillar and Mollys Hut on the return

Do you think I should buy some max tray or is the sand compact enough?

Airing down plus momentum should deal with the sand, but if you're solo MaxTrax could be very handy for the claypans if they're wet.

Mate your call. We never even looked like having any traction issues but every day is different out there.
I say if you dont take some you will probably need them and if you do take some you probably wont need them. Better to be over prepared for me. I dont like relying on others.
