Image Files: It became apparent that the wealth of photos being uploaded to the servers is starting to have an effect on the disk space. There was over 50GB of images that have been uploaded in various areas. To facilitate speeding up transfers, server storage and performance we had already installed a HTML 5 up-loader. This up-loader allows for auto resizing of images on the client browser before being transferred. This was installed over the last few months. However the already uploaded images have not been resized. Over the last two days I have run resizing routines on all uploaded images to ensure that no image is bigger than 1920x1080 pixels. This has saved a significant amount of disk space (approx. 20GB). This will have positive flow on effects also with performance and memory usage as image rendering will require less resources to build the smaller resized images that are rendered to the browser.
