Prostrate or twining herb; stems ± whitish pubescent.
Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets ± circular, rarely broad-obovate, mostly 0.6–2.4 cm long, 1.5–2 cm wide, margins undulate, upper surface ± glabrous, lower surface pubescent; stipules cordate.
Flowers mostly 1 or 2; peduncles 1–3 cm long; bracts stipule-like, 2–4 mm long. Calyx 6–8 mm long. Corolla 15–20 mm long, scarlet; standard obovate with a yellow callus at base.
A widespread species in southern Australia from south Western Australia to north-east New South Wales. It occurs in a variety of habitats including open forest, woodland, grasslands and heath.
Flowering start in April and ends in November.
