This
campground is located in the
Lime Bay State Reserve, managed by Parks & Wildlife.
Fees apply $13/night and can be made by phone or paid into the honesty box at
the entrance to the
camp.
This is an off-the-beaten-path area located on a remote thumb of the Tasman Peninsula in the
Port Arthur area.
An excellent place for camping with family, friends and kids with picturesque
views, great swimming, snorkelling, short walking and water based fun activities. The combination of shade, beaches, and campfires makes
Lime Bay State Reserve a really desirable place to
camp. Black swans & wallabies are commonly seen here.
Close to the
campsite you will find what remains of the 1833 coal mines where convicts housed at
Port Arthur were sent for punishment.
All campsites are first-come first-served and reservations are not accepted. Fire rings are spread around the
campground and ground fires are allowed, unless a total fire ban is in place. Fuel stoves are recommended. Firewood not provided. Chainsaws and wood gathering are prohibited. Pets and firearms are not permitted.
Generators are allowed until 10pm. No drinking water is available at the
campground, so bring your own. A four-stall
toilet block is set back from the
campground where the
toilets flush with a pump.
