Kauri Creek camping area is in Danbulla
State Forest, on the central part of the
Atherton Tableland, 70km (1.5hrs) from
Cairns.
It is a small camping area on the edge of one of
Lake Tinaroo’s quiet inlets.
The spot is
well suited for a swim or exploration by canoe. Good walks from the site.Take the 600m easy walk along the Link track through the forest to the Kauri Creek day-use area, or start the 8.2km circuit walk (Jungaljungal walk) through shady forest.
The camping area is 9km from the western entrance of the National park and 19km from the eastern entrance, on Danbulla Road.
Most of Danbulla Road is unsealed but it is accessible to all vehicles.
