This camping and
day use area is located in the
Byfield State
Forrest, south south east of the village of
Byfield. It is 11 km from the sealed
Byfield Road, along a
well formed gravel road that is suitable for two wheel drive vehicles and caravans, although high clearance vans are preferable due to a couple of sharp creek crossings. Details of the sites suitable for vans, cars etc are to be found at

The
camping area is reached first. It is on the banks of Stony Creek and provides tent, camper and van sites. Large vans could be a bit of a problem. The site has a composting
toilet,fire
places, picnic tables and non potable water. The access road could become a bit slippery if wet.
Immediately over the creek, the
day use area is reached by a concrete causeway that provides a handy retaining wall for the rocky swimming pool. The area is grassed and set up with multiple picnic tables, several gas barbecues and composting
toilets. Non potable water is also on tap.
Two forest walks start from the
day use area, one of 950 metres and the other of 4.2 kilometres. The National Parks site gives details of track grading.
The area is set in the foot hills of the mountain range that runs to the east of the
Byfield area. The drive in is through harvested pine forest areas. The road carries logging traffic.
