Foster is a town of a little over 2,000 people on the South Gippsland Highway at the northern end of
Wilson's Promintory. It is a useful location for a tour of the area, with a day trip to
Tidal River on the Promintory a popular choice. The town has fuel supply and a range of shops including supermarkets.
It is
home to the Prom Central Caravan Park which is a caravan and camping park of reasonable standard with old but clean amenities and a
camp kitchen. The park can become crowded at summer holiday time.
