Bothwell is recognised as a historic town although not as
well known as
Richmond or
Campbell Town but an important Georgian town just the same. It contains 60 historic buildings. It stands on the River Clyde about 76 kilometres from
Hobart. It is part of the Central Highlands Council and is on the road that runs through the Steppes to The Great Lake.
It is now a rural town supported by grazing and agriculture. The information centre has a brochure titled "Let's Browse in Bothwell" that sets out the most interesting points of interest. Many are within walking distance.
