Burke and Wills camped here on 1/2/1861. As they were walking on the eastern bank of the
Cloncurry River, they actually ended up going up what is now called
Sandy Creek. As it was heading in the direction Wills was wanting to travel, it easy to understand him missing
the junction of the River and Creek.
