Information

Burke and Wills Camped here on 30/1/1861. The expedition had not traveled far this day due to the efforts of trying to get the camel out of the bog hole at camp 108. They camp upon a tribe of aboriginals...the first they had seen for 10 days. They camped not far from the road bridge as shown in the photo. They washed themselves and the remaining camels in the water to remove the mud they had collected on themselves in trying to get the camel out at camp 108They killed a number of snakes and goannas which they ate that night. As the sun went down they saw smoke and fires in the distance so they knew there were aboriginals close by.
