A copper
mine. Also known as the
Red Bluff Mine. This
mine sits half way up a steep
bluff of red quartzite. The quartzite is cross-cut by numerous quartz veins and the copper mineralisation is hosted by these veins.
It should be noted that "Wheal" is Cornish for
mine so the correct locality name probably should be Wheal Turner and not Wheal Turner
Mine or mines. Cornish miners were the original miners here.
