Hi All,
I am a year 12 student down in SA, currently working on a project designing a hypothetical product for school. The product is a still, used to distil water, purifying it for camping and survival.
it will work by boiling the water in a container and recondensing it as drinkable water.

I have copied the link to a short survey below, asking questions about how you, yourself access drinking water while camping and what features you believe to be the most important in a water purifying product.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to answer the survey and share your opinion.

It should work by simply copying the URL below into your search bar.

Thank you for your time.

Been a while since a marketing researcher posing as a student has dropped by.

I believe it is a student, by the way he has designed his system, so good on him for having a go.

Who puts them up to this? It has been seen before as QLD mentioned. All what is being asked for, is what people buy and use for camping anyway. Not sure what can be gleaned by doing this. I was once involved with students in exactly this type of research asked for here. I can't see how a Technology teacher would ask a student to do this. Did the student design the system? A visit to a dedicated outback store would reveal all that is needed here, apart from testimonials.

A "research project" is a requirement of the Yr11/12 SACE program in South Australia.. its dumb. Students go through motions just to sign it off.. its likely this survey is part of that.

Pretty much the same as VCE in the SOCIALIST STATE of VIC The so called education dept, or whatever they are called this week, had that for TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS in yr 12. For a time I was involved in assessing, ie, marking the end of year VCE papers for yr 12 for what was called, Tech Design and Deveopment. Not sure how a survey proves anything within that. Research can be done in many ways. It is likely any responses to this request will have nearly ALL responses saying the same thing, because that it will be from what people bought from the camping store. Often the same camping store. No one here has really used, or has developed or invented something new! A dead end?

What is wrong with a student having a go and reaching out, to learn?

Perhaps it's better to either assist someone asking for help, or simply move on without the need for a completely unrelated, unhelpful political rant.

Ignore the naysayers, Azi; I hope you learn from the experience. Survey done.

The lack of any sort of response from Azi might indicate that this has been a “phishing expedition”.

Hi Macca,

The "lack of response" may also suggest that Azi is otherwise engaged or has abandoned interest in EO.
Maybe the best way to handle such petitions is to either comply to the request or just ignore it?

FWIW I completed the questionnaire & as a member of this forum have to say I am ashamed & embarrassed by the wilful negativity expressed in this thread.

Cuppa,

A similar request came up on this Forum a couple of years ago. Ended up being a scam. That is why I initially did not respond to the request to complete the survey, and the reason for my later comment regarding being a “phishing expedition”

Cuppa, your expression of "wilful negativity" seems rather harsh and judgemental. Not everyone shares your views and it is possible that this thread is a scam even though there are no obvious pointers to that.
We may never know and It is likely that there will be no response from the OP, Azi, as he or she may gather the questionnaire responses without referring back to this thread.
Cheers
Allan

Allan, do you think I would have posted as I did if after having looked at the questionnaire my inbuilt 'scam alert' had revealed anything of concern?

If you were to follow the link you would find nothing which could constitute a 'phishing' exercise. I was quite prepared not to proceed if that had been the case.

Judgemental? Yes.
Harsh - perhaps, but in my view justified by the harshness of some of the responses to a first time poster. I have singled no-one out, but the evidence is there for all to see & I am not alone in feeling the responses were unfriendly.

Placing myself in the position of a first time poster, I doubt whether I would have bothered returning having been subjected to what amounts to unwarranted unfriendliness.
