I run Hema and Exploroz on an older Samsung Tab 8 and haven't had any problems apart from being a bit slow loading

It looks like Samsung do not import a S9 in sizes less than 11". If you purchase online, you will be dealing internationally. If you import a smaller one and Samsung Australia are like other companies, you will not get any service or warranty for imported goods.

I would check the specs and make sure that it has a gps chip. I'm not sure about Samsung tablets, but unusually some Wi-Fi only Android tablets sold o/s do not have a gps, for example some of the Lenovo M10s (not sure what edition they were).

The "A" series are definitely the lower specced of the Samsung Tablets.. this tablet will be adequate, but if funds permit, I'd get a higher specced tablet personally.

I really like Samsung tablets though.. superb gear and almost every model has a GPS chip which is great.. it can be a real minefield with other manufacturers.

Yeah i have it and it's good, the perfomance is decent (I have the 8gb ram version) I didn't notice any slowdowns in almost two months of usage for basic tasks (Browsing, using apps like youtube, drive, X and switching between them), the screen has low resolution but if you watch from a certain distance it looks decent, except for resized images that looks pixelated

I have a Samsung Tablet S9 FE (10'9") loaded with Explore Oz and it runs without a hitch

It is an excellent tablet, has internal GPS and a good battery life

They are advertised for around $750 at any of the major outlets

After using HEMA for many years, I have purchased 2 x Lenovo 10" tablets ($200 each, one for me and one for the co-pilot) with OziExplorer Android ($32 each) and I really really like it.

Being of the 'fruity' persuasion I just bought a new 10th gen Ipad - 64Gb specifically to mount on the dash for the 'co-pilot', to run Exploroz Traveller.

It seems to run very nicely & I no longer have an excuse not to increase my familiarity with it. Lots to learn, despite having used Traveller now & again for years.

Spent several hours dreaming/planning some as yet unfixed routes across & around the country on it a couple of days ago. It reinforced for me how much better it is for a 'meandering' style of travel than the Hema. Drilling down to check out waterholes etc on small tracks opened up any more possibilities than Hema shows. Of course not all the tracks will be accessible but it did make for many more possibilities.

After close to 4 hours using Traveller, the ipad was still at 75% battery, so I think the PD 36w cig charger I've bought will keep the power up to it no problem when driving. Imstalling it with a small computer fan behind it to aid cooling when needed.

Thanks to everyone for their replies to my query re; the Samsung.

The main reason for the query about the Samsung A9 Tab 8.7" was because the screen space is limited in the 300 and a 10"screen takes up a lot of it.

I'd be very interested to know Peter 'n' Margaret are going with Lenovos, they do a 9"which might just be close enough.

The retailers tell me that there is no direct GPS on board?

You could nearly afford to replace them every year!!
