Has anyone had the glow plug light stay on and fixed it. Replaced the relay on the left guard under the bonnet, no change. The glow plugs go off but the dash light stays on. Tried Toyota dealer, they checked the vacuum controls for the EGR all good. Replaced EGR ECU, light still on.

Help please.

Has anyone bothered to check that all glow plugs are drawing current.

fastglow relay fault, or you have a earth feeding it via something you installed like spotties or fridge etc....what did you install prior to this start happening??

I haven't added anything new all accessories have been installed for a long time. I replaced the glow plug relay on the guard. I fitted a second hand Emission ECU. If I disconnect the small plug the light goes out and the car still runs. I will check all the earth leads.

Thanks Dozer

Check the continuity of the wiring between the ecu and the relay and also the current shunt if it has one.
Has the vehicle done much beach work?
Wouldnt be a bad idea to hit toyota up for an electrical schematic of the vehicle if they are unable to pinpoint the problem.

I'm surprised that Toyota couldn't fix the problem.

The schematic I looked at shows the lamp is normal controlled by the glow plug timer circuit as with most Toyotas.

However the EGR module can also brings up the "glow plug" light but not in response to the glow plugs being turned on, I suspect the engine managment system has detected one of the glow plugs is faulty when the engine is being started and uses the EGR ECU to bring up the lamp to indicate a fault. Have you checked each of the glow plugs to see they are not open circuit and that they are getting power?

The glow plug timer controller (located behind the glovebox) can also be an issue.
