It would be great if I could only download maps by state or some kind of grid. Apps like Terra Map and even Hema has this ability and will save so much space.

Does your device have a slot for an external SD Card.. the maps can be stored on an SD Card.

I have free space but I am suggesting it as a good improvement that would help many users. Right now it’s the biggest app on my device and I don’t think it needs to be. ?????

Storage space is cheap these days. Making the map by State would only increase the complexity and cost. I much prefer one file as it is so much simpler to manage.
What other people think of me is none of my business.

I see no reason they could not just add a download all button for those people that need everything even though they will never need the data. Plus they can add updates specific to areas reducing downloads etc. To me this adds very little complexity and zero cost. it’s just a database of coordinates., you just split at the state level.

.
I suspect that splitting the map data base into sub-sections may be more complex than you expect Davey. And anyway, doing so would achieve less than its trouble. Consider the issue when a track wanders back and forth over State borders.
As you say, you can of course obtain this function from some other mapping apps without compromising the excellent ExplorOz products.
Cheers
