I’ve been using Cooper A/T tyres for 15 years and more recently S/T Maxx tyres. Only had one flat for over 100000km driving, probably fortunate.
There are no replacements in Australia and no production of the S/T Maxx in the US at the moment.
The Bridgestone dealers here are suggesting Maxxis AT 811RAZR as a replacement.
The purpose of this query is to ask if anyone has had experience with these and if so what is your considered opinion about them. I’m going on the CSR in June.
I know there are many others and there’s always debating each one benefits but I’m not really wanting to go down that rabbit hole.

I am on my second set, Terrific tyre.
Have done the Gulf,
Kimberley, Gunbarrell and the Simpson on them and very happy with their performance
Will buy again

I'm running my first set of these at the moment. we were in
Perth Xmas/new year and I was looking at the tyres while having a beer and thought there getting down a bit. Had a look at tyre rotation card they gave me at purchase and they were all but 50k so I felt much better. Have done a fair mix of stone & sand & will buy them again. I done 3 1/2 week in the Simpson in Aug. with 5 other vehicles running 5 different brands of tyres and no one had a problem or a flat. I was running 15psi.

cant help unfortunately, but i can say maxxis is a very good brand, got them on an 80 i bought years ago, 881's (road tyres), was very impressed as they were not on my radar as a contender at that time.
Research sidewall construction, are they light truck construction or passenger, whats their load rating compared to the st cooper you run.
Lastly, check out toyo offerings and compare price/specs.
id stay away from 2 ply sidewalls, and if the tyre has sidewall tread, all the better for sand.

There are very few bad tyres these days - we get way fewer problems and punctures than we ever did in the past. Brand is almost becoming irrelevant.
The Maxxis have been around long enough - no experience with the AT811RAZR but expect you'll be happy.

Yep, and when you are unlucky you are unlucky.
I've driven my share of rough roads and remote tracks over the last nearly two decades.
Saw a travelling companion stake a tyre on a tech screw in the
Laverton caravan park and had my only
puncture with a stick through the sidewall of a near new Toyo at Balladonia
camp ground.

Laverton as
well , the morning after filling up at the servo , with a few
young locals hanging about ??
Servo bloke was brilliant , on a Sunday.

They had just built a new colourbond fence and my mate backed right up against it.
I was on the Gibb last year and
miles from anywhere a fellow traveller picked up a giant nail. From look of it been lying there for years.
Like I said, some days you get lucky and some you don’t.

I have done just over 40,000km on my set, so far they have been great. I reckon they are just starting to make a little noise, I rotate them every 10,000km. Still great on wet and dry tarmac, beach as good as any other tyre, also good on gravel.

Adding to this, I have had 2 sets of Toyo AT2 which were fantastic tyres, so far these current tyres are on par with the Toyos (apart from being a smidge noisier).
