Interesting discussion - or speculation/guesswork if you prefer - on what the Hilux diesel hybrid might involve. If it is a "mild hybrid" as touted, with very minimal fuel (and emissions?) savings one wonders what the point is, and whether the additional complexity(and cost?) is worth the effort. I suspect someone's burleying the waters but time will tell.

There was a guy of Facebook the other day that has high contacts within Toyota
And he had photos of the 2024 new Prado that was also going to be a hybrid diesel

They've been trickle feeding all sorts of info for the last 18 months Stephen. 2.8l diesel hybrid, 3.3l diesel hybrid, petrol hybrid. About the only consistent thing is that they'll be based on the TNGA-F platform.

Reading between the lines they used their partial ownership of subaru to flog off old hybrid tech with the current forester, and that resulted in a total failure - you'd hope they would have an honest dig with the hilux.

will be turbo petrol electric, diesel is on the outer everywhere other than Australia, you wouldnt think Toyota would make a model just for 5% of the worlds population......
