Good evening all,

We will be crossing the Nullarbor for the first time in a couple of months time. I'm interested in a few of the must sees along the way and any good free or paid camping spots.. Any suggestions would need to be accessible by a high clearance 2wd ute towing a small hybrid van.

Regards Gazza

Get WikiCamps and you'll get all the info you need, it's worth the few dollars.

Check out recent ThreadID: 145183.
As said use Wikicamps and Petrolspy. Lots of free camping spots and road houses have paid camping.
Don't forget about the quarantine requirements.

If you have the time and inclination include the Old Eyre Highway

Nullarbor Net has some good information. If you are a golfer you can play the Nullarbor Links

We took 6 weeks from Norseman to Ceduna seeing as we missed a lot first couple of times. Out theory was when we saw smaller birds about there was obviously water nearby. Took next track off Hwy and probably less than a kilometre we came across a water hole. We would stay 2 days as first day would workout where and when the birds came for water. That way I way set up to photograph .

Enjoy the journey.

Moons book is quite useful. Eyre Bird Observatory is doable in a day. Bush camps just about anywhere and if done 5-10 km from a roadhouse you will have a phone signal.

An absolute MUST is to call into "The Head of the Bight", not far from the Nullarbor Roadhouse. This where the whales come into calve. Depending on your timing will determine what you see but worth calling in at anytime.

Do they still lock the gate just off the highway when the whales are not there? If so, then you will quickly know if there is any viewing out there.

Check out Smarttek Hot Water Systems if you plan to camp at some free camping sites, my Smarttek elevated the way I camp as I usually try to find the best free camping sites around.

I would usually just take a dip in the closest river to wash off but now I can have a hot shower in any location. All you need is a gas bottle and water source. I also purchased the quick connects pack which makes setting it up take literal seconds.

Check them out here - https://smarttek.com.au/

They can be used with any container that you can store water in. When I go to places without a river or dam, I just fill up a 20L jerry can and still have a great shower.

Have a look at them here - https://www.smarttek.com.au

The link I think you are referring to was not inserted by equinox. It is one of those places link that the forum inserts if you type a name into your text that is the name of something in "Places."
