Had bit of search with no real proper hits.

has anybody recently replaced their shocks if so what was used ? Originally had Gabriel's fitted which did appear to be soft when I pressured tested them by hand

Folks had the shocks replaced with some EFS units as suggested by caravan service mob.

Appears they are too soft maybe ok for bitumen roads but not good enough for roads the folks have been travelling. Central road through to NT around alice then through to Cairns (no great rush)

I'm yet to have a proper conversation but that was complaint I received in brief call during this week. Im concerned they will carry on regardless and destroy both shocks and new tyres they fitted just prior to the trip.

Any suggestions welcome, all I could find was non specific info from the cruisemaster website which doesn't surprise me really.

regards

Dean

Recently bought 4 shockers from cruisemaster Australia ph 07 36243810 to suit my crs suspension version1 ex Geebung queensland
The various suspensions require different shockers so you will need to know what suspension is under your caravan and what year chassis was built. We ordered on the third of June and delivered to Mareeba within the week hope this helps mickb

Hi Dean,

I replaced my Cruisemaster shocks with an equivalent Pedders replacement. Can’t tell you the name and model at the moment, will have a look tomorrow.

They are Pedders Trak Ryder.

I also replaced the single bolt at the bottom with two seperate bolts. I have found that the single bolts snap too easily. This has happened three times before I replaced the bolts. You also need to torque the bolts to the correct setting.

Hi John,

On the receipt from Pedders, it quotes the part number as 9529, and the description as Trakryder Foam Cell Shocks, $217 each (incl GST) in 2019.

These are on an Elite Goulburn RZ 18’ off road van with 2.6 Tonne Cruisemaster suspension.

Thanks for the info their van is lighter id suggest closer to 1900 fully loaded up. I doubt this would make a difference

Shall keep that two bolts in mind easier to carry two spares than one long which is harder to find - what grade were they 8.8 or 10 . ?

Hi Dean,

I did not use high tensile replacement bolts. I have found them to be too brittle and snap too easily. I first used ordinary galvanised bolts, but I have since replaced them with stainless bolts. It is advisable to torque them up, Cruisemaster advised 90 newton/metres which is around 66 Foot/pounds.

Dean K3

I changed all 8 of my Gabriels on my 2015 van in late 2020 for the equivalent new part number Gabriels.

I got them at a good price (about half retail or thereabouts) for eziautopartsdotcomdotau.

Did about 1000km of gravel roads last year without issue.

Cheers,
