I'm looking at getting a swivel mount to replace my current one as its pretty rusty and difficult to adjust. What brands are people using nowadays? I was thinking of this one from Rhino https://www.rhinorack.com/en-au/products/spares-brackets-components/brackets/aerial-brackets/folding-aerial-bracket_43196

I used one from FrontRunner - works a treat. Only thing I would check again is to ensure it swivel's the way you want it for the side you mount it on. They tend to swivel only one way - mine ended up having it swung towards the front. That's fine, but had to adjust where I mounted the bracket to suit... which meant I had to adjust where the RotoPax mount went, which meant I had to adjust where the shovel went, which meant....

Photo shows it front right of rack.

Hi Lachlan,

Was there a reason why you couldn’t mount it on the other side of the rack?

Macca,

Yep. Positioned where it is, I can raise and lower it getting in/ out of my garage or other low lying stuff just by reaching out with my hand. Also, when I drive off (don't usually have it up) and want it up, just can reach out and flick it up.

I’ve got this RFI mount, for phone aerial on head board of my ute. Also have a 2nd one that I’m going to use on uhf aerial on bull bar, but it’s been too hot since Christmas, to get hot ‘n bothered fitting it.

They appear to be quite strong, and have 3-4 positions to angle the whip, from vertical to horizontal. However, with a lot of use, especially with heavy whips, the thin mounting material appears to wear the adjusting pin. Noticed this on another vehicle, not mine. Worth around $80, in a couple of different brands.

Thanks all for your replies.
I've gone with the Rhino Rack version for the moment. Let's see how long it lasts?

Probably a bit too late, but I'm very happy with my Benelec swivel mount. Folds both ways, adjustable tension, SS so doesn't rust.Mine's a gutter mount. I think they have the same in bull bar mounts.

Yes, bought my first Benelec knock down mount 22 years ago - they are great - adjustable tension. Like you say they are designed as a gutter mount but can be mounted elsewhere - a mate installed one on his Platform rack. I've installed them on the 200series rail and of course Troopy gutter. Never need anything more than a stubbie aerial.
