This track goes from Lajamanu to Tennant Creek, does anyone here know anything of it? Cheers, Kanga.

Hi Dunc, have you finished the CRT diary yet?
I was looking at coming through the WISO road on the return trip from the Kimberley next year coming out at Tennant Creek. Spoke to the CLC in Tennant Creek and Alice yesterday and basically its a no go, track overgrown badly. Not a lot online and the most recent something like 10 years ago. We'll probably drop down from Lajamanu to the Tanami road and see if the corrugations are any better going the other way!
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, flat out with some MI 5 digging about the builder who messed up our house.
Cheers for now

Mate, I've only just started the Oombi Track part of the trip. So far 69 pages and 59Mb and only day 9 of the trip still have a further 16 days to go. So expect War & Peace by the time I'm finished. It's all the photos I add into the support the text and visa versa.

Keep me up to date re the house.

cheers

No probs John, all I'll say is that the trip was epic.

The first day is by far the hardest as there is a real nasty drop down that required a lot of road work and then crossing the Durack River took time and I got horribly hung up on a large rock that required me to be winched back off. If you have a decent lift and large tyres that would really help. My 2" lift and 31" tyres and leaf springs didn't help in the least. We got to swim and fish in some amazing places, Walked into the head of the King George Falls. Amazing time and Colin Morgan was a fantastic tour guide and ambassador for his people and culture. We were the 2nd last tour for the year so water levels were low. The trip before ours apparently was just right with regards to water levels and the fishing. We did the 9 August trip.

Kanga1

As far as I know that road is not open and has not been for a number of years.

We tried to go through there in about 1992 and found it impossible to get a permit and so had to go the long way round

From what I understand the track went through three different land areas and hence the problem of getting a permit.

Spoken to a women about four years ago from Katherine who advised nothing had changed.
