100 series suspension

I’ve given my beloved Disco to my son, and decided to keep the LX470 as my bush vehicle. It’s done 460k and still runs sweetly. It served as the family car when new, and has since done several very remote desert trips including off track in the desert to confluence points. The immediate concern is that the automatic height control is getting tired. It is no longer possible to set to the high position, and with a load on it sinks to the low position during cruising. I suspect the problem is leaking hydraulic dampers.
I can either get the AHC refurbed, or fit a totaly new
suspension.
Does anyone have any experience, or recommendations for
suspension specialists in Victoria who can handle the task? (I’d prefer to avoid Toyota/Lexus dealers as I’ve had some bad experiences)

If you set it to high and it starts out at high it may be the height sensors are not remaing active. Hydraulic dampers? Do they dampen or hold the weight? Shocks onvehicles are dampers but they don't hold the vehicle at ride height.
You may be acusing the wrong suspect.

RMD, you could be right. It’s a complex system that I don’t fully understand. I believe the shocks do both functions: damping and height control. From the N (normal) position the vehicle tries to raise to H but gives up without getting there. It should run in N at highway speeds but sags to L when heavily loaded. After 22 years and 460k I’m not surprised it’s failing. This will be my last bush vehicle so I’m happy to invest a few grand on the
suspension to keep it going. Sadly the driver doesn’t go from N to H as readily either!

I would be looking at the valving which determines the ride height and it's sensing system. If it gets to high and then lessens, it seems there is leakback into the reservior.
