A very slow growing gnarled small tree of desert areas growing to about 8m. Heartwood is heavy, dark red and durable though will be attacked by termites. Phyllodes are grey-green 6-8cm long. Flowerheads a dusty yellow.
Not found in WA.
The main flower colour is yellow. Strong smell after rain (sometimes used by drovers to direct stock to where rain has fallen)
Wood was extensively used for fence posts. Makes excellent firewood. Dark red heartwood and pale sapwood makes it an attractive timber for turning.
Excellent for staking tyres.
