From road from Hobart - track from Crabtree to road to Hobart - track to outside of New Norfolk. Jeffrey’s Track rises from an EL of about 100m at Crabtree to 750m (odd) and then descends back down to New Norfolk. We were 'in the clouds' on the day we did it. There are numerous water crossings - in January 07 they were mainly simple to cross. It has a steep / rocky rise out of Crabtree. The route is in dense natural (I think) forest. It is a very pretty and enjoyable route, providing for a wonderful day trip from and to Hobart.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch at Snug Cove before heading to Crabtree to try the route, and then looked around New Norfolk and had a cuppa there afterwards. The track section itself only took about 2 hours – we didn’t waste any time having started late.
This gives just a bit of a feel for the route. Think it will take some effort to turn into a trek route – I will try to contribute when I have time but you’re the experts there. Thanks for considering this.
