Series 3 - Track 3
Seventeen stripmaps break the tracks located in the Pilbara region into identifiable sections giving travellers information on regional roads, fuel, water, landmarks, accommodation, GPS co-ordinates and much more. Each strip is accompanied by photographs of scenes along that section of track. Also includes enlarged sections of track, track notes, elevations, specific land marks, emergency uhf radio channels, contact details and more!

For the traveller and explorer in us, this track guide provides a unique visual reference for both the novice and experienced individuals, families and groups. Using photography, track notes and mapping, the Outback Travellers Track Guide is a companion to sheet maps, offering a closer look at what is out there, where to find it and how to get there safely. With the aid of sectioned, colour coded track information, cautions along the track are brought to your attention to help avoid unnecessary problems. Hazards in the form of crests and dips in the road, creeks, floodways, river crossings and tight corners are highlighted to avoid potential accidents. Wandering stock and native animals can be road hazards at the most unlikely times, caution must be taken to look out for these animals. The Outback Tracks can be a beautiful experience if you slow down and take the time to stop and enjoy the geographical features and pioneering endeavours left as a reminder of the early spirit of adventure.

The Pilbara region takes in some of Australia's most beautiful country. From rugged mountain ranges supplying mining companies with enormous volumes of iron ore to the pristine coastal waters of Ningaloo Reef and fabulous fishing locations. Deceptive as all this may be, the Pilbara is still a very remote area criss-crossed with roads and tracks from stations, mining, townships and national parks. Karajini NP and Millstream-Chichester NP offer incredible natural formations that need to be seen to be believed. The mining open cuts at Newman and Tom Price are staggering and offer a constant reminder of this huge industry via relentless iron ore trains, towing 236 trucks at 116 tons each, pulled by three powerful locomotives rolling 24/7. It is an ancient landscape, demanding but amazing, with plenty of blue skies and warm days. A mecca for tourists in all directions with great camping locations
