Built in 1871, this was the second Inspectors residence built after the first cottage was damaged beyond repairs from flooding. When you visit this site, think how remote it would have been 140 years ago. Near the site, a small welded plate marks the final
resting place for a
Police Constable, his wife and
young family that died from diphtheria. After the closure of the Stock Inspectors Office, this structure was used as a Customs House.
