Information

On the 31st July 1942, a Japanese aircraft dropped 8 bombs in the Douglas Shire. One bomb landed 50 metres directly behind this point, where Carmel Zullo, aged 2 ½ years old was asleep in her home with her parents. Shrapnel pierced the iron walls of the house, with one fragment grazing Carmel.s skull.

Carmel was the only civilian that was injured during the enemy raid, and she unveiled this plaque 50 years after the event on the 31st July 1992.
