Cliff Head bush/seaside camp
Our first night on the road and we spent it at a
bush camp – when we say “bush” it was right on the Indian Ocean and the view had the WOW factor. The site is called
Cliff Head, it is 311 km north of Kingsley and just south of
Dongara.
We moved onto
Kalbarri to stay 3 nights at the
Murchison caravan park situated right across the road from the beach. They feed the pelicans there each day at 8-45am. But, alas, there were no birds due to recent flooding killing the fish they feed on. A local told us they are probably at Lake Ayre -bugger.
We explored the area over the 3 days although limited as I put my back out!!! (Ingrid said “maybe we should go
home?” and that fixed the back problem smartly).
On Monday we drove about 30km into
Kalbarri National Park with me drugged up to the eyeballs to cope with the corrugated road!! We had photo opportunities at Nature’s Window and
Z Bend. Awesome spot – will return another time to complete the 8km loop walk and a swim in the
gorge.
Next stop and report from
Denham.
