Hi all
We are planning to do the hay river track in June/july 23 all the way down to the end. Just a bit confused with the permits. Do we require just the hay river permit or does that just get us to the madigan line? Do we require a madigan line permit for driving on part of it and is there one for the k1 and warburton tracks?
The crc site is not very clear on the permits...call me an idiot if it is actually straight forward but keen on some feedback
Cheers all

You’ll need a permit from CLC for Hay River track(now free!) and Desert Parks Pass for K1/Warburton. That permit covers the section of Madigan between Camps 14-16.

Not sure the Warburton track is open, it was closed for some reason? Maybe people were leaving gates open? The SA road website might give a definite answer?

Just to clarify Bob, there are no gates what so ever on the Warburton/ K1 track.

The only reason it gets closed is the actual “Warburton Crossing” and surrounding country that is low lying and takes a long time to dry out after heavy rain and flooding of the Warburton River.

Warburton is closed until further notice. Actually, I reckon it's closed more often than it's open. I've been trying to do it for 10 years and can't get the stars to align where I can get there when it's open.

There was one gate, Stephen, in Oct, 2015.

I imagine some people may confuse the hot weather closure, with a complete ban, but I do recall the track being closed for a period over the past year or two.

Where was that gate Bob?

No such gate when we did it, it was a straight run through after leaving the Birdsville Travel through to the K1 Line.

Some mates of mine got turned back by a gate last year. They told me because they knew I was interested in doing it. I actually did start the track one year but had to turn around due to mechanical issues.

Hi Bob and team
Just an update for your information.
We have our CLC permit which was free.
There was an additional form for entry to the aboriginal area via the batton hill camp and it comes with a $240 per car fee!!!
Thought you might want to know
Cheers
