Hi All, thinking of heading up the Murray in a couple of months when things quite down a tad. Looking for a spot with toilets nearby (probably take the pushies), but more so away from the boats if its possible. Is there such a place?
Happy to go anywhere between Cobram and Torrumbarry. Not that I overly against ski boats, only time ive been up the Murray in the past has been Skiing, but without a boat I would be nice if you could get away from there base camp.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ol’ Salty,

There are plenty of “off grid” camping sites along the Murray without toilet facilities. Those with toilet facilities will be fairly busy, and likely to be in areas where boats are prevalent. Download the Wickicamps app, it should help you find what you are looking for.

Well covered in ExplorOz Places and on EOTopo maps too - so if you had the ExplorOz Traveller app you'd have all this area covered.

We recently stayed at the Nyah recreation reserve. Toilets, heaps of space, and a track along the river where you can also setup, but, of course, can be along way from the dunnies! No boaties in any great numbers. On Wikicamps.

Stayed a few nights at Barmah Lakes Campground in October 2015. The toilets had just been refurbished. Plenty of camp sites and a firewood collection area on the way in. Lots of tiny bugs (non-biting) that could got in everywhere and were a pest, but if you camp near a river/wetland in spring it's only to be expected. Check it out in EO places.
