Sounds a bit painful but it must be a bit better than the 2 brick method used on camels in some Arab countries.
Doesn't that hurt ?

I think it was heated up before use so as to cauterize as well.

Nowadays the sheepherders are known as Politicians and they're always trying to round up sheeple to their flocks, with some sheeple crutching isn't needed.
