Qantas Crash Site

It may come as a surprise to readers to hear of a QANTAS crash site . In 1927 fledging airline QANTAS purchased a plane in England ....for reasons never discovered the plane crashed near Tambo.

l was there about 20 yrs ago,from your pictures it is eazy to find now. When we were there our directions were go to the paddock (town common) and its in the western corner, the paddock was covered with meter high grass and after some time we finally found it. Interesting site about Qantas history even if they say they have never had a crash as the plane was still owned by them.

Qantas has had plenty of fatal crashes. The claim is not that they have not had any fatalities, it is they have not had any fatalities in the jet age.

Qantas also had two Empire Flying Boats shot down by the Japanese in 1942, Timor - New Guinea.
There were two Qantas Empire Flying Boats destroyed by a Japanese air attack in Roebuck Bay, W.A on 3rd March 1942.
There were 22 aircraft destroyed in this attack. 'Broome's One Day War' by Mervyn W, Prime.
There is an interesting (translated 1977) letter from the Japanese commander of the raid.
