Is Middle Road a
well defined road or just a track? Would you think a novice 4wd operator would find it difficult and intimidating? The vehicle would be
well kitted out and be using EO Traveller for navigation with paper maps as backup as
well as a PLB and satphone.

Was up there last October, with EO Traveller as my navigator. It's easy as to navigate on Traveller and the track itself is
well defined - more like a road, really. You'd have to try very hard to get lost.
There are some stony parts around
Olive Downs which can be a bit rough, some sandy parts and a lot of hard, smooth natural surface. Adjust tyre pressures to suit, drive to conditions.
There has been wet weather up there in the last month or so, so maybe
check with NSW nat parks or the pubs or servo for road conditions.

It is more like a dirt road than a 4wd track. You sound organised with the right
tools and plans.
It's a toddle. You'll love it.

My son and DIL are borrowing the Pajero. They had there first run on dirt in the Brindies this afternoon, so I'm glad it's a toddle, hoping that they get a taste for the desert . Son just wants to get away from several months of extreme hi- pressure covid 19 related work.

He's an interesting presenter and has put together some good videos. They should help trip planning, it's actually the son who's going, but it is on my list, combined with the Strezlecki Track when we can travel interstate (other than NSW) again from our ACT covid hotspot that hasn't had any community transmission for 105 days, for the one and only case and has been free of all cases for 60+ days!

Yes, I really like his videos and he seems like a very nice fellow. We were going up to
corner country ourselves a few weeks ago and got to
Bourke on the day it rained and closed every dirt road in the north west. We had to turn right at
Bourke and explore the
New England for a week instead. We got a few inches of snow on us at Mt Kaputar so it was pretty interesting anyway. Cheers.
