I have the Joocla, with no experience of the Smarttec. What I can say about the Joocla is that it is perfectly fine for those that need a hot shower. It works, it is simple, and with the bag that they sell can be reasonably compact. I have found the Joocla fine for both touring and for, when not touring, great for placing at our holiday
farm for long term usage. Very happy with it, to the point of potentially buying another unit for our
farm for a permanent install.
These days- buy Australian and Australian made (which Smarttec may be, I am unsure). But happy with the price and output of the Joocla.

There is a very good product review between the two on the snowys.com.au web site outlining the pros and cons of both.

Is that a "Joolca" hot water unit? sounds similar! There are a few heaters which look the same as Joolca and have the controls and pipes in the same position and seem to be quite good by all reports I have read. I don't have one but bought a Coleman unit which is not much good, will heat water, but very hard to control. Never buy a Coleman unit if success of controlling the temp is required.

I have had a country comfort (looks 'extremely similar' to the smarttec) and have a Joolca. The Joolca is still a going concern, same can't be said for the other one. The owner did try to come up with solutions to repair but in the end, logistics and transport costs made it easier to bin than chase down any possible warranty. The addition of the summer/winter control which the joolca does not have, means that in alpine areas the other two will get hotter if that is an issue? The joolca is hot enough for showers in the snow, but won't take almost frozen water to 45 odd degrees for washing up if that is any sort of consideration. The Joolca is also considerably smaller which is a plus for me.
