Is this road open or closed? I have heard conflicting information.

Peter, a phone call (08 8670 7835) to the Mt Dare hotel will give you a sure answer.

I thought someone here may know rather than distracting the attention os someone at their work.

PeterD,
These days, Mt Dare Station is pretty much just a roadhouse and
camp ground. I don’t think it is actually a working cattle/sheep station anymore. No offence intended if you already know this. :-)
Macca.

Yes Peter, "someone here may know", but Mt Dare 'will know'.
They derive their income from travellers and so I'm sure they do not mind answering the phone to assist them.

Judging by a Facebook post I read today from someone that had visited Mt Dare recently, sounds like they aren’t that busy out there this year and visitor numbers are way down.

Incidentally, my computer warns of an "expired certificate" when I try to open the Mt Dare Hotel website.
Is anyone else experiencing this or do I have a computer problem?

Allan,
You don't have a computer problem. It's a site admin problem. Let them know and their IT contractor/person will attend to it.
Some info
here.
Cheers

I read somewhere that the track is closed due to the particularly bad stretch of bulldust near the Mt Dare end. If correct it must be *really* bad. 3 years ago it was the most extensive we have driven through.

It is worse than bad. It was frightful when we drove through it earlier this year. Worst i have ever seen and several people in our party who are seasoned outback travellers commented that it was the worst bulldust they had ever seen or encountered. And these people with whom we t ravelled have done more outback travel than most.
I have since enquired to find that there is a now "bypass' track to avoid it.

We're talking about the Binns Track here? Yes there was some terrible bulldust there last year! I drove through on 10 September, on my way from Mac Clark to Mt Dare.
There was a network of informal tracks through the trees next to the track. Allowing one to bypass much of the bulldust. I made considerable use of them, given that I was traveling solo and didn't want to risk getting bogged.
