That's not a bad price when you consider that a friend just bought a new 79 series single cab landcruiser. Then replaced the suspension, seats ect, put a service body on it, decked it out and install a 2500w sine inverter, to a staggering cost of in excess of the $150k. And it's only a landcruiser. The OKA at lest will have good clearance and towing capacity with about the same miles per gallon

the old joke about OKA’s was that they were a great vehicle once the mods were completed. That included replace the engine, gear box and drive train and then replace the body and suspension

I think that will be a very old joke looking at the specs available now!.

The dual cab trayback looks the goods, i reckon if i get a $100,000 trade in for the defender, the rest is easy, :))))))).

After owning 3 OKA's I would rather spend $150 on a chopped 200 series.

Not often you get a very knowledgeable interviewer and a no-bs, straight-answering seller/maker Tony. Robert Pepper did the best road test on any vehicle I've read - on the new Everest. Great to see this Aussie business doing well.

Thanks, I have been lucky enough to have worked with Robert, we did a piece on "Big Out" for Unsealed.

He also has written the manual we use for 4WDing.

He has a true down to earth, honest approach to the motor industry with an accute technical background.

And he is not a bad guy for a pom. ????

Ha ha. Plenty of good Poms despite the stereotyping Tony.

Yep his 'test it properly and report what you found' came across clearly in the Everest test. I was impressed enough to message and thank him.

Bazooka,

That's where being a pom myself works ;) Although I have been here since 82.

Great video article, a real contender against the Iveco Daily 4x4.

spotted one being driven along kewdale road (west aust industrial section in metro area) in a 6x6 single cab configuration few months back.

basically they reuse the existing chassis and cabins but modernize them from what I can gather. gave me figure of 80,000 for basic chassis and singel cab

downside is requires LR licence but a similarly sized Hino 3t 4x4 can be derated to 4495 GVM within C class licence weight range

Just seen this thread and watched the video interview.
Our 1994 OKA XT has a GVM upgrade to 6.6T and it typically about 6T on the road. It still has the original (560,000km) Perkins.
The OKA with the yellow front bumper belongs to friends of ours and we crossed the Simpson with then in 2018. It is a 2006 built NT.
The broken axle story from the interview was us in 2017. We broke a rear axle (that had a defect). It took 5 days (not 2 days) to get one posted from Melbourne to Birdsville and then another 3 days for our friends to get it and bring it back to us (then 10 minutes to fit it and drive away).

What they say about the suspension is absolutely true.
This is 4 1/2 minutes of the QAA line.

Cheers,
Peter
