The Dakota is dearer by around $150, its canvas is better and it's a bit heavier. Otherwise much of the same. Why don't you consider a Gordigear 1400 Explorer. It's superior in most areas and has a 2 year warranty (instead of 1year) and is a bit cheaper.

I will second what snailbait said, despite the fact that I am not keen on RTT's. We too had a Shippshape, bought used, - well looked after 13 year old example - after an awful lot of research. The design means that the ladder is not slap bang in the middle of the undercover ground level area as it is not the support for the tent base. We loved that one side of the tent is open & airy in even the heaviest downpour. My dislike stems from a bad back & nreeding to dress in a sitting position with no solid wall to lean against, when camped in company. Were it not for that we would still have the Shippshape & not be towing the Tvan.

iKamper is the way to go, but expensive. Quality & functionality excellent, you need to be a regular user to justify the purchase price.
