Hi everyone, I'm scanning the web as I type this but just wanted to ask the question;

We are travelling from Innamincka, K1 line to Poeppel Corner then in to Birdsville.

Probably camp at Poeppel (or close by) & MAYBE one night on the the way from Innamincka & may even stay a night somewhere from Poeppel to Birdsville.

Which desert Parks Pass do I need?

I assume you're travelling from Innamincka over Walkers Crossing to the Birdsville Tk, down to Clifton Hills, and over Warburton Crossing to get to the southern end of the K1?

You'll need a SA Deserts Park Pass to do the K1. You can use the same pass to stay at the Cullyamurra Waterhole at Innamincka.

Yes you need a deserts pass, dearest drive you will ever have. We tried it once and were camped out of the park on the Warburton crossing, low and behold a ranger came along whilst we were camped and wanted to see our passes even though we were not in the park. Told us a lie that there were rangers having a raid at the corner and if we didn’t have passes we would get booked. He made $600 bucks for the parks mob. Dearest toll Rd ever to get to the Hay track.
Lindsay.

Cheapest camping I've ever had - lasts a year and covers multiple parks.

The Jardine ferry fee includes unlimited camping for as long as you are there.
Another bargain.
Cheers,

Desert parks Pass maps were Westprint when we went in 2015, when the pass only cost about $120 and now it is $174 for 2020. Clearly that increase is more than the rate of inflation , but since when did a govt dept ever adhere to that when it puts up prices.

Pity also that the maps were dated 2001. Yes some features had not changed but others.... All in all IMO not good value for money..... W

There’s very little firewood around the Poeppel Corner area. I’d be inclined to camp down the K1, where there is plenty of wood............and some good camp sites.

3 days from Innamincka to Birdsville would make for easy travelling. You could always slip up to the Knolls, if time permitted. Roughly 100kms return trip from the Corner.

Check that Warburton Crossing is open. It was closed a few weeks ago.

If camping in the National Park along the QAA Line you will also need a camping permit from Qld end.
