Hi guys , heading away with the youngest for a few days of exploring. GOIng to have a few days around yalgoo and then was thinking of heading to lake ballard . Want to take the roads less travelled. Was thinking of taking the youanmi road from just outside mt magnet and following it all the way to lake barlee- youanmi road and then linking up with the evanston-menzies road and going through to lake ballard.

has anyone travelling the first two roads and has any idea of the conditions of these roads ?

thanks in advance

Be aware of the weather, dirt roads, expect the unexpected, drive according to conditions.

Providing there has not been much rain, it is usually a good gravel road.
Plenty camp spots nice scenery.
If you are taking a pet, keep it on a lead there are baits in that area.

Some places worth looking at around Yalgoo:

Just south is Jokers Tunnel.

Just north east is Chinamans Rock. WA's first billboard with the remnants of a transport company's name from years ago.

Further north is Dalgaranga Crater. If you go and look at this do some research first so you can understand it being more than just a hole in the ground.

Further north, and taking you into Cue from the SW and worth showing your youngster is Walga Rock with a mysterious rock painting of a sailing ship.
I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy
