lake indoon

Good evening all travelers in W.A,
can any one inform me if there is any water in lake Indoon at the moment.
we are planning a four to five day escape up there from Perth and from what I can see it would make a good spot to stop for a couple of days. any information on the water level would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

No water at all. No fires allowed. Great spot though.

good morning Michelle,
thank you for you prompt reply , no water and no fire for cold nights is a bit of a worry , as I do like a nice fire and a red wine of an evening, along with a bit of a chat.

jeez i wouldn't stop at lake indoon for 4-5 days .Lake indoon hardly ever has water in it . If you want a lake with water for 4-5 days and the ability to have a fire head towards eaglestone rock, lake baladjie or any other the wheatbelt lakes as they are still holding some water and you can actually have a fire there and tbh much better locations that lake indoon

If you go to Destinations, Places and do a search Eaglestone and Baladjie both come up. Click on map and locations are shown.

If you look at thread 140168, JJAad, First Covid Trip the first part shows Baladjie. Note that the road in, I think it is about 5klm, can be a bit difficult if they have had heavy rain. Apart from that you should be fine in van.

Eaglestone has easier access being closer to the sealed road. There is camping on that side but the better spots are around the back of the rock. I have only been there during the dry but after heavy rain the spots around the back could be a problem. A quick walk would let you know. Top spot during the wildflower season.

Dusta has probably been there in more recent times and may have more up to date info.

If they are in Places, why do they not appear as links when you type them into a message?

Baladjie Rock is great to camp at and many options where to camp. Best to collect your wood on the way in as it's starting to be slim pickings close into the rock.
cheers

According to the Central Wheatbelt Visitor Centre, Eaglestone is closed for maintenance. Might be best to give them a ring if thinking about heading that way.

"If they are in Places, why do they not appear as links when you type them into a message?"

Peter,

If you don't type them exactly as they are listed in Places, then they won't link.

eg The Place is listed as Baladjie Rock. That will link. But a shortened Baladjie by itself won't.

Cheers

We visited Eaglestone Rock a few weeks back. The access road/track is "blocked" by a tree across the road at the bend where it branches off. The visible evidence suggested hordes of vehicles had simply driven around that. On further exploring, there were several vehicles/vans parked at the clearing at the most easterly point adjacent Lake Brown (see the google sat image linked earlier). There was also no sign of any "maintenance" activity whatsoever. We drove in, cruised around and drove back out.
