Beach/ river camp close to Sydney

Hello,
I am looking for an epic beach or river
camp spot within 4 hours of
Sydney either north or south.
Can anyone suggest.
Ideally not in a
campground, I like to be free.

You can
camp anywhere on
Blacksmiths Beach but you need a beach permit. The north end of Samurai Beach no permit required.

Bendethera (free) pretty hard to beat (3.5hrs from
Sydney) plenty to do, The River always has water,& save to swim in, there’s caves, has history & has its own plants the
Bendethera Wattle. It does get busy on long weekends, public holidays but there is plenty of grass areas & there is always room so you’re not on top of each other. If you know where to look there are platypus in the river, if you walk to
the caves & explore take good lights & old clothes
There’s 2 main ways in & out both 4wd but its easy, 1 is not recommended for trailers by National Parks
There are trek notes on ExplorOz. The only amenities are long drop
toilets & a few BBQ rings

They've banned trailers on all except the Moruya entry. From the NP website -
Some trails not suitable for trailer access
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has had advisory signs in place for some time to encourage people towing 4WD trailers to avoid some of the steeper, harder-to-maintain trails in
Deua National Park. However, due to ongoing damage to trails as a result of continued inappropriate use of 4WDs towing trailers on these signposted trails, NPWS is now prohibiting the use of trailers on the following trails in
Deua National Park:
Dampier Mountain trail
Oulla Creek trail
Minuma Range trail
Merricumbene trail
Mongamula trail
Dry Creek trail.

Samurai Beach Anna Bay, need a 4WD, camping at the northern end must have your own
toilet and there absolutely no facilities and you can be as free as you like and stay as long as you like.
Beach entry track is off the Gan Gan rd between the Koala Sanctuary and Middle
rock holiday resort. Please let your tires down the track is soft at the moment

Garie Beach, but might be too busy for you?
Great spot, where you can walk across to North Era, Era & Burning Palms beaches, to the south.
